Many of the projects that we work on at Alex McIntyre Architects are located in some of the most beautiful countryside in the country. Our houses are designed to look as though they belong to their environment and are positioned to take full advantage of these spectacular landscapes. We find that the most effective way of demonstrating the relationship between house and countryside is through aerial drone footage. Take a look at the footage of our recently completed new build country house in Derbyshire below: Alex McIntyre Architects have in-house commercial drone pilots that are capable of safely carrying out aerial surveys. These are especially useful in the early stages of the project to create 3D models of landscapes or to investigate existing roof structures. The lights are on at our new build house in Derbyshire! This is always an exciting stage in any project and really does help the house come to life. See what you think in the images below: In this project we have used  Orluna  plaster in style light fittings. These come with a special jigsaw fitting which is plastered into the ceiling and matched to the paint colour. This means fittings disappear into the ceiling while the lights are off. Often, lights are simply stuck in the ceiling in a grid pattern to light the room, rather than to highlight architectural features. On this new build house in Derbyshire, we have located lights in dormers, to pick up architraves around doors and windows, and also to highlights areas of the wall selected for artwork.  Bathroom lighting needs special consideration.
